Duet for Stairs

In Duet for Stairs, Liv Rahel Schwenk and I brought our practices together. Through a score of steps and hops, we proposed a rhythmic duet that transformed the staircase of the Atelierhaus at Kunstraum 34 into a site for sound, exploring its sonic, spatial, and atmospheric qualities. Mirroring was examined across multiple registers—through movement, spatial orientation, and video projection. The staircase’s linear verticality was set against repeated attempts at symmetry that faltered and reformed. The projection unsettled the dance’s equilibrium and its fragile scaffolding, opening a space for alternative temporal potentialities.
